This special, one off MINI couldn’t be any less Run of the Mill. Isn’t It a Pity that this George Harrison MINI tribute car will be limited to a production run of one car only, we’re sure there are plenty MINI, Beatles, and George Harrison fans who would say “I’d Have You Anytime” to this little beauty.
This special MINI will be Awaiting On You All and handed over to Olivia Harrison at MINI United this year at Silverstone. Olivia will be accepting the MINI on behalf of the Material World Charitable Foundation, a charity set up by her late husband and “quiet Beatle” George Harrison in 1973. Later in the year the car will be auctioned off in aid of the Foundation. Olivia is quoted as saying:
George was a huge MINI fan and he would have enjoyed creating this new version. The fact that MINI’s anniversary celebrations will also benefit our Foundation has made it an enjoyable as well as meaningful collaboration.
This MINI is a modern interpretation of a Mini Cooper S gifted to George Harrison by The Beatles’ manager Brian Epstein in 1966. George had his car painted in a colourful psychedelic fashion. A year later this iconic Mini featured in The Beatles’ Magical Mystery Tour film. The MINI has been designed according to the wishes of Olivia Harrison and rekindles the look of George’s famous original.
What is Life if not for being outrageous at least once in a while, something both the MINI and The Beatles certainly did. This MINI seems a very fitting tribute and all in aid of a very good cause.
