Back at the start of September, top MINI site BigBlogg reliably informed the masses that the new MINI Crossover/Countryman would not appear at the IAA Frankfurt Motorshow as expected at the time, but would instead be unveiled at Geneva in March 2010. Well, that news is catching on courtesy of AutoCar in the UK who have gotten hold of these rumours themselves. We say rumours as BMW has, no surprised, so far remained tight lipped on the subject.
MINI E trials in the UK are just kicking into gear while larger scale tests in the USA and Germany are already well under way. The next country on the agenda appears to be on the other side of the World. According to a report in The Age the MINI E could arrive in Australia by the middle of next year.
MINI Australia spokesman Toni Andreevski confirmed plans are afoot to bring the all electric MINI E to Australia, saying
It hasn’t been finalised yet, we are still negotiating with Munich but it looks very promising and we are quite confident of having a car in Australia around the middle of next year
Meanwhile, AutoCar have an interesting report on the possible future direction of BMWs “Project i”, for which the MINI E is considered an important part of the preliminary testing phase.
