So it turns out that L’Automobile’s claimed photographs of the future MINI are not so reliable as they may at first have appeared.
The exterior shots (of which only one, shown here, has been published online) appear genuine images of a design prototype MINI, however the interior shot released online is a fake, which shrouds the entire story in a thick air of dubiousness.
The interior shots, which appeared similar to those we’ve seen before, were in fact VERY familiar indeed. Motoringfile got their thinking caps on and realised the images were indeed Photoshopped versions of the second generation MINI “leaked photograph” shown on the right.
So, what do these photographs reveal? We’d have to get to France and buy a copy of the magazine to see them all and discover the truth here. The MINI shown could indeed be the third generation car, a hint at the future of the MINI, or indeed a design prototype of the MINI crossover vehicle. Hopefully time, and further images from the magazine, will tell all. Whatever it is, all is not as it first appeared.
