In what many will regard as shock news, the Alfa Romeo MiTo has been given some fantastic news by CAP, who are widely considered the industry standard in the UK when it comes to projected residual values. In several cases, the MiTo has been given projected residual values above those of comparable MINI models.
Top of the lot for the MiTo in terms of residual value is the 1.3 JTDM Veloce, which after 60,000 miles and three years is expected to retain 49% of its original price, which is ahead of all MINI variants. Over the course of the first year, the same model MiTo is expected to retain 81% of its original sale price, which is 5% more than the closest MINI. Indeed, over the quoted one year and 10,000 miles, seven Alfa MiTo versions are expected to out-perform the MINI for holding their value.
Simon Wheeler, who has the rather cumbersome job title of Used Vehicle Remarketing Manager for Fiat Group Automobiles UK is understandably delighted at the figures, has been quoted as saying
This is significant testimony to the exceptional attention to detail Alfa Romeo has applied to this car in terms of design, build quality, reliability, running costs and desirability. Add to the mix the improvements made by the Alfa Romeo dealer network of late, and customers can buy the new Alfa MiTo with absolute confidence, knowing that they are not just investing in a great looking car that is a joy to drive, but also protecting their investment with strong future values.
The full figures, supplied by CAP via Fiat Press read as follows:

As you can see, in reality there is very little to tell between the residual values (RV) of the various MiTo and MINI models, but the simple fact that the Alfa Romeo has “beaten” the MINI in this way will surprise many neutral observers and MINI aficionados alike, and no doubt be trumpeted on high by Alfa Romeo as long and loud as possible, the MINI has been topping residual values charts since its introduction nearly eight years ago.
